welcome
to
my
design
portfolio

I’ve spent the past 5 years designing complex software at a global scale with the Chicago IBM ix studio, working with clients like United Airlines, BP, Toyota, and Estee Lauder. I consider myself a generalist, with a reasonable degree of skill spread across disciplines like type design, branding, photography, code, animation, and illustration.

Outside of my 5+ years in digital product design I have worked on numerous branding projects, both from the ground up where I enjoyed full creative control and extending and adding depth to brands that already exist in the public eye. I’ve worked on food packaging projects and printed multiple books and some small publications. I’ve designed and produced ~3 fully functional and commercially viable typefaces, with another handful of half-ready typefaces waiting their turn. I’ve coded proofs of concept to demonstrate complicated bits of functionality; going beyond typical prototyping capabilities in design apps like Figma. I’ve designed a dozen or so personal websites the old fashioned way (HTML, CSS,  JS). in my search for the perfect portfolio. I’ve written functional copy for digital products and come up with tag-lines for brands. I’ve designed and animated dozens of vector logos and icons for use in branding projects. I’ve used my formal training in illustration to add charm to brands. I’ve recorded and edited dozens of videos. I’ve created and maintained multiple design systems and I’ve photographed plenty of events and restaurants when there was no one else to do it. My latest project is photographing the streets of the countries I visit, bringing together the best photos with a series of cultural reflections and “behind-the-photo” type content into a series of printed travel journals.
I continue to pick up new creative disciplines as I progress in my career and in my life. Not all of them are commercially useful, but all of them have the same general trajectory. If you’ve met me you’ll know I don’t take myself very seriously and prioritize a fun and healthy relationship with work. If I can get through life leaving each and every thing I touch a little bit better looking than when I picked it up I’ll consider it all to have been a success.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’re interested in working together, I occasionally take on freelance projects if they are particularly cool, for a good cause, or a friend.
